project3942009 Marks the 70th birthday of what is generally acknowledged to be the greatest year in motion picture history: 1939. And so, in commemoration of this momentous period in film history, The Kitty Packard Pictorial will be remembering each and every film released that year with reviews and reminiscences on the date of their initial release. Below is a list of the films that we will be remembering throughout the year—to the best of our knowledge, it is a complete listing of films released in that magical year. Granted, films weren’t exactly released as they are now, so some films may not have been shown in the States for several years after they premiered in 1939.

If you find a particular film missing, please let us know so we can add it to the project!
